For the last ten years, I have been struggling with acne as many other women and men. It has been a long and emotional journey that seems to be reaching its end, and I want to share it with you.

I know how acne can be frustrating and can quickly lead through a down and dark spiral. Some of us do not care that much about it, but for others, it can be a real daily struggle. Like many teenagers, my acne started when I was 14 years old more or less. …

How I’m learning to appreciate what life and my own hard work is giving me.

Successes I should feel good about but instead feel guilty about:

  • Starting with two challenging years to graduate from High School with a degree that was meant to prove to my father that I could get it, rather than something I wanted to do.
  • Followed by seven months as an Au Pair Girl abroad to avoid taking a sabbatical year because I didn’t know which studies to do.
  • Completing a Bachelor abroad in four years instead of three after failing my Thesis. …

Getting what you want can be approached in different ways: some start with visualization, others with hard work, some just wait, and others still might think really hard on it. From my experience, a combination of focus and action is needed in the right balance. A technique I’ve discovered to achieve optimal focus, is known as ‘the letter to the Universe’.

In this document, I refer to the ‘Universe’ as this powerful energy that is around us, but of course, feel free to call it whatever name works for you: God or the Quantum Field, for instance.

A few months ago, I started a website that only focuses on personal development books, their summaries, and reviews (see: When I created the ‘About Me’ Page, I knew that I wanted to write something about my life’s experience and what the concept of Change means to me, but I didn’t know where to start.

I am a fan of personal development books. I am currently reading the 80/20 Principle: The Secret of Achieving More With Less by Richard Koch. While enjoying some spring sun on my balcony in Amsterdam, I came across an exercise that Koch explained, and that really inspired me to share it not only on my website but also on Medium. I hope you will find it as insightful as I did. ✨
